Easier to Type Special Characters in Games

We’ve launched a new feature that makes it much easier for students to type special characters in our language games – particularly useful for modern languages and other subjects where special characters are needed.

Example of usage: Easier to write the Spanish word sábado.

How it works

When any question in a game round contains special characters not found on the standard keyboard (such as é, ñ, ü, ç or other symbols), a keyboard button now automatically appears next to the text field on all questions. When students click the button, they get a panel with all the special characters needed for that specific game round.

Students simply click on the character they want to insert and it’s added where the cursor is positioned in the text. This makes it much smoother to write correct answers, especially on devices where accessing special characters is cumbersome.

Example use cases

  • French: café, élève, français
  • Spanish: niño, español, adiós
  • German: müssen, Fußball
  • Mathematics: geometric symbols and formulas

Which games are affected

  • Free input games (where students type the answer themselves)
  • Cloze texts (where students fill in words in the text)

The feature activates automatically and only when special characters are actually needed in the game.
