Do you know what the symbols on your clothes really mean? Practice reading laundry care labels and learn how to wash, dry, and iron your garments correctly.
Instructions for Laundry Care Symbols
Laundry care symbols are the small pictograms found on the labels of garments and textiles. They indicate how an item should be handled to maintain its shape, prevent shrinking, and extend its lifespan.
The symbols are internationally standardised by the organisation GINETEX and governed by the ISO 3758 standard, which applies across the EU and many other countries.
This game is well suited as an introduction or review activity in connection with practical lessons on laundry and textile care. Students practise recognising and interpreting the most common symbols for machine washing, hand washing, dry cleaning, tumble drying, ironing, and bleaching. The varied activity formats help reinforce learning through repeated exposure in different ways, making it effective both for initial instruction and consolidation.
1. Laundry Symbols (Identify each symbol)
