Print login cards

Student passwords can’t be viewed afterwards, either by you as a teacher or by us at Helpful Games. A password is shown once: when you create the account, when you give the student a new password, or when you print login cards or download an Excel list. Printing and downloading create new passwords, so it’s worth knowing which students you select before you print.

How to do it

  1. Log in as a teacher or parent.
  2. Go to Students and click the group name.
  3. Click Print login cards below the student table. For a spreadsheet, click Download in Excel format instead.
  4. Choose which students to include (see below).
  5. Click Print or Download.
  6. Open the file, print it and cut out the cards.

Which students to include

The dialog shows how many students each option covers.

OptionStudents who get a new password
Students who haven’t received login detailsStudents who have never logged in and never been given details. This is preselected in most cases. Students from Skolon or Google Classroom are not counted.
All students who have never logged inAlso students who received cards earlier but haven’t logged in yet. Use this if cards have been lost.
Selected studentsThe students you have ticked in the table. Only available to plus members.

Warnings in the dialog

  • “X of the students have already logged in.” Their current password stops working and they must use the new one. Check that you haven’t included students who are already using their accounts.
  • “X of the students have received login details before, most recently YYYY-MM-DD.” If you have already handed out those cards, they stop working when you print new ones.

Advice

  • Print cards for students who haven’t logged in. Then nobody who already uses their account is affected.
  • Don’t print new cards for a class that has already received cards but not logged in yet. The cards you handed out will stop working.
  • Check the date. Each card and each row in the Excel list says Printed YYYY-MM-DD, so you can tell which printout is current.
  • After an Excel import, the group page shows how many students haven’t received their login details, with the buttons Print login cards and Download in Excel format. The box stays until the cards are printed.
  • Printing is always done from the group page. Old bookmarks to the print page no longer work.

All students have already logged in

If all students in the group have logged in, a message says so. If someone has forgotten their password, give that student a new one on the student page. See Forgot student password.

Students who don’t need a password

Students who log in via Skolon, Google or Microsoft don’t use a password on Helpful Games, so they don’t need a login card.
