Using Helpful Games via Skolon

The help sections below only apply to those who use Helpful Games via Skolon. Read more about what Skolon is at Skolon.com.

Logging in

If your school uses Skolon, you can also log in to Helpful Games that way. There are two ways to log in:

  1. Find the Helpful Games tool in the library after logging in at Skolon.com, and click it to go to Helpful Games.
  2. Go to the Helpful Games login page and click the Skolon login button. You will be redirected to Skolon to log in. When you have logged in, you will return to Helpful Games already logged in.

Creating a user

The first time you log in to Helpful Games via Skolon, you as a teacher must read and accept our terms of use before you can log in.

A student cannot log in to Helpful Games until a teacher has activated a class or group that the student belongs to.

If you already have an account on Helpful Games

If you already have a teacher or parent account on Helpful Games, you will automatically be logged in to that account, provided the same e-mail address is registered with both Helpful Games and Skolon.

If you are a student who already has an account on Helpful Games and want to keep your results, you need to merge your new account with your old one. You can do this yourself, and your teacher can also merge your two student accounts.

Requirements for use

To use Helpful Games you need a plus membership purchased for logging in via Skolon, or you need to activate a demo in Skolon. You activate the demo by clicking the Try for 30 days button on the Helpful Games info page in Skolon.

All users who log in via Skolon are automatically classified as plus members. Among other things, this means the games are ad-free. Read more about the benefits of plus membership.

Importing a class or group from Skolon

If you log in as a teacher via Skolon, you can import one or more classes or groups from Skolon into Helpful Games, and they will then be kept up to date. You import a group like this:

  1. Log in via Skolon (see above).
  2. Click the Students button when logged in to Helpful Games.
  3. Click the Get group from Skolon button.
  4. Select the group you want to import, then choose which grade all the students in the group belong to and how the games should be playable.
  5. Then click the Update/get group button.

Keeping a group or class up to date

Every time a user (teacher or student) logs in via Skolon, we check whether any groups have been added in Skolon that the user can be placed in. If a teacher adds a student to an existing class in Skolon, that student will automatically end up in the same class on Helpful Games too, provided the teacher has already imported that class into Helpful Games.

If you as a teacher want to update a group manually, go to the group on Helpful Games and click the Update from Skolon button under the student list tab.

No new groups are created at login. Members can only be added to existing groups.

Removing group membership

No teacher or student is removed from a group automatically. Removing a student or teacher is done manually. To remove a teacher or student from a group, they must be removed from the group in Skolon and also from the corresponding group on Helpful Games.
