Can you distinguish vowels from consonants? Find the vowels in the English words!

Instructions to play find vowels
First you choose if you want to practice with uppercase or lowercase. Then select the type of words to play with. After selecting the category of words, you get ten pictures with associated words. Your task is to find which of the letters of the word that are vowels. When you select a vowel, the letter will be green. If you instead click on a consonant, the letter will turn red. You have to find all vowels before you can continue to the next word. No letters may be red. Those letters have to marked back to white. What is a vowel?
A vowel is a central and mandatory element of a syllable. The English language has five vowels. Sometimes the letter Y is considered a sixth vowel because it may sound like other vowels (most commonly I). Unlike consonants, each of the vowel letters has more than one type of sound and can sometimes even be silent with no sound at all. The vowels in the English language are:A
O
U
E
I
Hard and soft vowels
In English linguistics you don't distinguish between hard and soft vowels. In most cases, when vowels are called hard or soft it is based on how the consonant just before them is typically pronounced.Long and short vowel
When a vowel sounds like the letter's name, this is called a long sound. A vowel letter can also have short sounds. Whether a vowel has a long sound, a short sound, or even remains silent, depends on its position in the word and the letters next to it.Calculation of knowledge points
Each completed game level gives 1 knowledge point in Find vowels. The maximum number of points (24 knowledge points) is achieved when you pass all 24 levels. You'll get a bronze medal when you complete a level 2 times and a silver medal after 5 completed rounds. A gold medal will be received after 10 completed rounds. In Find vowels, the maximum number of collectable gold medals is 24. You only earn knowledge points for levels that has not been cleared before. A cleared level has a green background above. Even when you have completed a level, you can continue practicing at that level, but it gives you no more knowledge points.Similar games
