Practice red words (words that can't be sounded out) through Tier 3.

The game Red Words

Instructions for Red Words

Red words are words that can't be sounded out, so they must be memorized. This activity will support students' long term memory of early red words. As students play, they should read each word they flip over out loud to themselves.

1. Tier 1-3

MemoryMemory - The level consists of 30 pairs (consisting of identical words paired with each other), but a maximum of 10 pair are practiced per game round. The student's task is to find two cards that match. If two matching cards are found, they are removed from the board. The game is finished when all 10 pairs of cards have been found and the memory has no cards left. There is no time limit. If it is too difficult, the player can click the button named Cancel - then it will show which pairs of cards match - and then try to complete the level again.

2. Tier 4-5

Calculation of knowledge points

Each completed game level gives 1 knowledge point in Red Words. The maximum number of points (4 knowledge points) is achieved when you pass all 4 levels. You'll get a bronze medal when you complete a level 2 times and a silver medal after 5 completed rounds. A gold medal will be received after 10 completed rounds. In Red Words, the maximum number of collectable gold medals is 4. You only earn knowledge points for levels that has not been cleared before. A cleared level has a green background above. Even when you have completed a level, you can continue practicing at that level, but it gives you no more knowledge points.
