Instructions for Verbs in Context
This game develops students' ability to select appropriate verbs based on sentence context and meaning. Students work with a variety of common verbs in everyday situations, learning to distinguish between words that may be grammatically possible but semantically incorrect. The exercises feature familiar contexts such as daily routines, play activities, and social interactions. Understanding how verbs function in context is essential for reading comprehension and effective communication. By analyzing which verb makes sense in each sentence, students strengthen their vocabulary, semantic awareness, and ability to construct meaningful sentences.
1. Choose Verbs in Context (Multiple Choice)
Multiple choice - The level consists of 20 questions, but a maximum of 10 questions are practiced per game round. For each question, the player is given three possible answers, only one of which is correct. It is up to the player to choose the correct option. The student has 3 hearts (extra lives) that keep the game round going. Questions have text-to-speech in English. Answers have text-to-speech in English. There is no time limit. When the student has selected all the correct answers, the game round is completed. If it is too difficult, the player can click the button labeled Cancel - then the correct answers will be displayed - and try to complete the level again.2. Choose Verbs in Context (Connect the verbs with sentenses.)
Link up - The level consists of 20 questions, but a maximum of 10 questions are practiced per game round. The player's task is to link the 10 questions in the colored boxes with the most appropriate answers in the white boxes. Each colored box can only be linked to one white box and vice versa. The student receives feedback on the links before submission and has 3 attempts to get all the links right. Questions have text-to-speech in English. Answers have text-to-speech in English. There is no time limit. When the student has linked all the boxes correctly, the game round is completed. If it is too difficult, the player can click the button labeled Cancel - then the correct links are displayed - and try to complete the level again.3. Write Verbs in Context (Type the missing verb in each sentence)
